Simpson and His Donkey

John Simpson Kirkpatrick was known as "the Man and his donkey" or a Hero and His Donkey. He was born a native of England but found his fate in the Army troops of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC). His worked included stevedoring and he made a good living working on many merchant ships. But when World War I erupted, that's when he enlisted himself in the army. He worked as a stretcher-bearer and he had a companion, a donkey which he called either Duffy, Murphy or Abdul. They used to carry water to and bring wounded soldiers back in the camp. Jack Simpson was recognized of his heroism and became hero of ANZAC history.
