Fort Garry Horse - Stan Butterworth - A World War II Vet

Stan and his brother Fred Butterworth joined the war effort in World War II and fought for all Canadians with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment. He is 88 years young, remembering the places in Winnipeg where he trained such as Fort Osborne Barracks beside the Assiniboine River and the campus of the University of Manitoba before heading overseas. This is a snippet of what he went through. He, along with other key people are responsible for the monument at Assiniboine Park near the Pavilion honouring the battle honours of the Fort Garry Horse Regiment who this year celebrates 100 years with a historical book release of some 550 pages on April 13, 2012 at McNally Robinson and a Gala weekend including parades at the City of Winnipeg and the Manitoba Legislature and a grand gala evening at the Fort Garry Hotel the weekend of April 12 to 15, 2012.
